Assistant Shed Coordinator

After losing my mother as a child and experiencing various other traumatic events during my childhood and teenage years, I struggled severely with my mental health. Coping with everyday life felt impossible, and I didn’t feel connected to the world around me—I would isolate myself and stay indoors, avoiding people. I didn’t feel capable of managing a job, college, or any responsibilities, and everything felt overwhelming, like I’d never be able to get better.

In 2019, I joined Youth Shedz on a whim after another organization suggested it, knowing about my career goal of starting my own charity. Since then, Youth Shedz has helped me slowly build confidence in myself and my ability to cope with everyday challenges. I started as a participant and then became a volunteer. Now, I work part-time with Youth Shedz as an assistant coordinator, a role I really enjoy. I also keep up with various hobbies and take part in other volunteer activities. I no longer feel constantly overwhelmed, and I know I have a strong support system to rely on if I ever need it. My future feels much brighter since joining Youth Shedz, and I’m excited to see what comes next!
